               Description: The May Revision of the Governor’s 2024-25 State Budget Proposal reflects a remaining projected budget deficit of approximately $27.6 billion. To help address this deficit, the Revise includes a number of new budget reductions to dedicated supports and services for children and youth involved with the child welfare system. These proposals would impact the ability to ensure children entering foster care can be placed in family homes in their communities; resources that help young people find stability with the most appropriate caregiver more quickly; and housing-related supports to families involved in the child welfare system. The June Child Welfare Policy Roundtable will take a closer look at the May Revision, the additional child welfare programs slated for reductions, and the vital role they play in supporting California’s children and youth.
