As we prepare for FY 2025-26, once again we must be nimble and flexible in responding and strategically reacting to information. We must demonstrate our unquestionable focus of supporting the needs of families and the workforce. We must lift up and magnify the critical role we serve in keeping communities and employers stable. Once thought of as only addressing the child care needs of families, we now are moving into frontiers of strengthening families, home visiting, trauma informed care, mental health, food programs, immigration and so much more. Under the direction of the TFC Foundation Board of Directors, we have made it a priority to collaboratively pursue an overhaul of the draconian rates paid to providers and move to a single rate structure that covers the true cost of delivering quality child care in all types of settings. We also know that our programs must be better resourced to do all of the work required to support families, meet the demands of the provider union, as well as keep up with the increasing costs of operating in California. We will not be silent when directives outside of our control require families and providers to be pitted against each other. Organizationally, we now have rebranded to the Thriving Families CA (TFC) Foundation. This rebranding better captures the work being done throughout this state, but also supports others in this space to join us. We intend to link arms with chambers of commerce and employers whose voices must be at the table with ours. We extend our arms to philanthropy and provider businesses exploring tools such as data that must be collected to lift up the impact of our roles in the lives of families now as well as in the future. In addition to the above, we will continue to put out the CAPPA Monday Morning e-newsletter50 weeks per year. That circulation has grown to nearly 11,000 per week. We have developed an expansive website dedicated to supporting our field with up-to-date information on coalition advocacy partnership opportunities, federal and state budget and legislation including, agency best practices, and more. We will continue to prioritize our weekly Tuesday conversations ensuring that all members are up-to-date on the myriad of changes happening daily. Finally, we will continue to support an annual conference with the California Child Care Resource & Referral Network as well as deliver more executive, regional and issue focused trainings. Moving forward, we want to give strength to programs, providers and families working collaboratively and strategically in meeting the needs of families. No longer will we silo our voices based on a single contract or provider type, but as a collective where all are integral to the long-term success of those that access services. On behalf of the TFC Foundation Board of Directors, we ask that you join us to support with your membership, your voice and your participation. The real strength of our organization comes from a membership that is united and a strong voice that reflects our community realities and diversities. Thank you for all you do to lift up your communities!
